Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the water and moisture-absorbing property of a polyamide fiber by irradiating the polyamide fiber with electron beams and subsequently treating the resultant fiber with a vinylic monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A polyamide fiber (preferably nylon 6 or 66 fiber) is irradiated with electron beams, preferably in an amount of 5-10 rad, and subsequently treated with a vinylic monomer [ preferably (meth) acrylic acid, vinylsulfonic acid], preferably as a solution having a concentration of 3-15%, to modify the fiber.
