This method for modifying the rubber article-reinforcing cord, including an impregnating treatment process for impregnating an organic fiber cord for reinforcing the rubber article with an adhesive solution, is characterized by including a thermal treatment process for irradiating the rubber article-reinforcing cord with laser light. The modified rubber article-reinforcing cord obtained by the method for modifying the rubber article-reinforcing cord is characterized in that an intermediate elongation at 4×10-2 N/dtex is 2 to 4 %.
