To enhance the durability of a concrete structure by modifying the surface of concrete within a usual execution range without requiring the extension of a term of works or special disposition (e.g., the installation of a scaffold, the adjustment of surface moisture quantity of concrete or the like).
First, a concrete form 1 is assembled. Succeedingly, the surface of the concrete form 1 coming into contact with concrete is coated with colloidal silica 2. Herein, the colloidal silica 2 on the concrete form 1 is applied by a method capable of ensuring a constant film thickness such as spraying, brush coating or the like. Next, concrete 3 is cast in the concrete form 1 coated with the colloidal silica 2 and aged for a definite period. Thereafter, the concrete form 1 is detached and, at this point of time, the surface of concrete 3 is modified.
