To provide a modifying method necessary for rendering a waste solvent recovered from a solvent vapor recovery apparatus a colorless, offensive odor-free reclaimed solvent.
The waste solvent C recovered from the solvent vapor recovery apparatus with the use of activated carbon is discolored in yellow by diacetyl and has a nausea-causing odor. Sodium percarbonate is introduced into this waste solvent C in such an amount as to leave undissolved sodium percarbonate, and the resulting mixture solution is mixed and agitated, and thereafter left to stand for about two nights. By this operation, the waste solvent C is modified (decolorized and deodorized), and on dehydration and finishing, the waste solvent C comes to a waste solvent D usable as a reclaimed solvent.
