Abstract:
To provide a molding method which enables a pipe material to follow the shape of a mold not relying only on a high pressure from within the pipe material but also using pressing force of the mold, the method further achieving thinner, higher-strength, and higher-precision molding of a flange portion.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method of molding a flanged pipe material, which method uses a mold 100 to form in a pipe material 120 a flange portion 122 along the lengthwise direction of the pipe material 120 and forms the body part 121 of the pipe material 120 into a desired shape within a first cavity (upper recessed portion 102a and lower recessed portion 104a) formed by the mold 100, the method comprising: a crushing step of forming the flange portion 122 by crushing a part of the pipe material 120 by the mold 100 and folding the crushed part in the course of the mold 100 approaching; and a plastic flow step of causing a plastic flow of the flange portion 122 to take place by further compressing the flange portion 122 to make a part of the flow sent to the first cavity (upper recessed portion 102a and lower recessed portion 104a) side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
