Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a monitor for monitoring molted metal in a refining furnace capable of realizing inexpensive laser transmission easy to be handled, and capable of attaining a quantitative determination lower limit required for refining process control.
SOLUTION: In this method of monitoring the molted metal in the refining furnace for irradiating the molten metal in the refining furnace with a laser beam to analyze chemical components, the laser beam is transmitted through a hollow waveguide and an optical fiber in this order to be transmitted to the refining furnace.
