Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for monitoring the state of the slipper metal of a slipper metal type joint for transmitting rotary driving from a motor to a rolling mill by connecting a variable length spindle connected to the motor to the roll shaft of the rolling mill.
SOLUTION: The contact specific pressure P and sliding speed V of the slipper metal are calculated from the inclined angle θ to the horizontal plane of the variable length spindle which is determined from the spindle length of the variable length spindle and the roll level of a roll shaft, the number N of revolution of the motor, current I and voltage E, the PV value which is the product of them is integrated and, on the basis of the value which is the integrated PV value divided by rolling time, the state of' the slipper metal is monitored.
