PURPOSE: To provide a method, in which a chiller of a cope can automatically be mounted to a prescribed position of a cope preset jig plate, and equipment therefor.

CONSTITUTION: In this method, a process for ascending and separating only the upper molding flask in the condition of remaining the upper molding flask 3 from the upper and lower molding flasks 6 including the cope 3 and a drag 4 after pouring the molten metal, a process for scraping off a part positioned to above the necessary height from the chiller C of the cope 3 and a process for taking out the chiller C of the cope from the cope 3 and laid on the cope preset jig plate 2 under the condition of the above arrangement are contained.
