To provide a method for neutralizing acidic oil that is obtained by pyrolysis of a resin waste and has poor oil water separability in excellent oil water separability when the fuel oil is neutralized with a basic aqueous solution and to provide a method for avoiding a sludge precipitation trouble to be a problem in mixing fuel oil with a different kinds of oil such as gas oil, etc.
The method for neutralizing fuel oil comprises neutralizing acidic oil 1 having aromatic organic acid substances containing benzoic acids with a basic aqueous solution 2, bringing the neutralized oil into contact with a weak acid 5 having acidity lower than that of the benzoic acids and lower than other aromatic organic acidic substances, reacidifying the neutralized salts of the organic acid substances except the benzoic acids and separating the oil from water. The addition ratio of the basic aqueous solution 2 is made ≥10 mass% to the mass of the mixed solution with the acidic oil 1 to form sludge 10, which is removed.
