Title:
METHOD FOR NORMALIZING LIGHT SCATTERING INTENSITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06323991
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure a very small scattered angle without being influenced by an incident light flux by measuring the components of irradiating beams of light scattered by a sample itself, and thereby normalizing the scattering intensity of the light from particles which are suspended in a solvent and irradiated with parallel beams of light.

CONSTITUTION: Along the diameter of a cylinder, a through hole 4 to constitute channel is bored in such an arrangement as positioned in the plane of each detector. The external surface of the cylinder and the internal surface of the hole 4 are polished by optical means so that surface unevenness is nullified. At the opening of the cylinder, a mounting tool 5 is installed which includes an optical system window 6 and aperture 7 for performing putting-in and taking-out of a sample to/from a cell 3. A beam of light 1 passing through the cell 3 does not bombard the surfaces within the view fields of detecting elements. Because the window 6 is located remotely from the center of the cell 3, a background effect arising when the beam is such as passing the interfaces between air, glass and liquid, can be avoided. The intensity of the total scattered beams of light is divided by If×Is, and the scattering intensity is normalized on the basis of the correlation, where Is is intensity of light, and If is intensity of light from source.
