To provide an observation method of a record medium or a record object for easily observing an XY section, an XZ section, or the like at an arbitrary position of the record medium and the record object in a wide range without manufacturing a sectional sample, and for accurately and quickly analyzing the distribution state of the inner structure and a forming material, the permeation state of ink in the print, and the like.
The surface of the record medium or the record object (sample 4) is two-dimensionally scanned by the point light source of laser beams, excited fluorescence or reflection light is extracted by using a confocal optical system, the extracted fluorescence or reflection light is converted to an electric signal by using a light detection means 6, two-dimensional image data and/or three-dimensional image data at an arbitrary position in the sample 4 are created by using an image formation means (CPU 8) with the electric signal as luminance information, and the data are displayed on a display or printed out as a two-dimensional image and/or a three-dimensional image.
