Title:
METHOD OF OBTAINING AROMATIC DIHYDROXY COMPOUND FROM WASTE AROMATIC POLYCARBONATE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005179267
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for obtaining a high purity aromatic dihydroxy compound by inexpensively treating a large amount of waste aromatic polycarbonates (for example, aromatic polycarbonate products such as disused CD (compact disc), CD-ROM (CD-read-only memory), and DVD (digital video disc)).

The method for obtaining the aromatic dihydroxy compound from waste aromatic polycarbonate resins comprises (A) a step (step (a)) of dissolving the waste aromatic polycarbonate resins in an organic solvent and decomposing these polycarbonate resins in the organic solvent solution in the presence of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, (C) a step (step (c)) of separating the reaction solution after decomposition into an organic solvent phase and an alkali aqueous solution phase to obtain the alkali aqueous solution, (D) a step (step (d)) of adding an inorganic acid to the obtained alkali aqueous solution while maintaining the temperature of the aqueous solution at ≤70°C to deposit an aromatic dihydroxy compound, and (E) a step (step (e)) of filtering the deposited aromatic dihydroxy compound to recover the aromatic dihydroxy compound.
