Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain easily the titled substance, by separating and decomposing one salt of reaction product salts of (±)-2,5,12-trihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthacene-6,11-dione-2-carboxylic acid as a raw material with an optically active amine.

CONSTITUTION: ( ± )-2,5,12-Trihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthacene-6,11-dione-2- carboxylic acid expressed by formula I as a raw material is reacted with an optically active amine, e.g. (-)-brucine or (-)-N-methylephedrine, in an amount of preferably 1.0W1.5 equivalents based on the above-mentioned raw material compound in a solvent, e.g. methanol. A salt containing one diastereomer as a main component in the resultant two diastereomer salts is separated utilizing the solubility difference of the two diastereomer salts in solvents, and the salt is decomposed to give the aimed compound expressed by formula II.
