Title:
METHOD FOR OBTAINING WAX FROM RECYCLED POLYETHYLENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2014034682
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an economical and environmentally friendly method for producing, from high molecular weight PE feed stocks, PE-waxes with reduced molecular weight and narrow polydispersity used for toners and inks.

To obtain waxes from recycled polyethylene, an apparatus comprising a heating mantle 15, a glass resin kettle 10 with a mixer, a distillate collection 20, and a decompression pump is used to heat polyethylene under reduced pressure 10 mmHg to approximately 400°C for de-polymerization, and wax fragments obtained by the de-polymerization are simultaneously distilled to remove small wax fragments. The small wax fragments have molecular weights of about 200 to about 2000, and polydispersity of about 1.01 to about 1.5.
