To provide a method for operating a blast furnace capable of reducing the amount of real CO2 generated, by utilizing generated CO2 effectively.
This method comprises: a step (A) for separating and collecting CO2 from a mixed gas containing CO2; a step (B) for adding hydrogen-based reducing agent to the CO2 separated and collected in the step (A) to convert the CO2 into CO; a step (C) for separating and removing H2O or H2O and N2 from the gas that has passed through the step (B); and a step (D) for blowing the gas that has passed through the step (C) into a blast furnace. The CO2 is separated and collected from the mixed gas containing the CO2 and reformed into CO, and the CO is blown into the blast furnace. As a result, the blast furnace that effectively utilizes CO2 can be operated at low cost, and the amount of CO2 generated can be reduced.
