To provide a method for operating a blast furnace, with which wear of a furnace bottom brick can surely be prevented in comparison with the related art at low cost without damaging the quality of molten iron.
In the blast furnace operation performed by charging raw materials from the furnace top part, when the brick temperature at the furnace bottom part is raised from a prescribed temperature, CaO/SiO2 being the mass ratio of the CaO component and SiO2 component in the raw materials, is charged while the ratio is controlled to be 1.3, and the wear of the furnace bottom brick 5 is prevented by controlling the brick temperature to a prescribed temperature or lower. Further, the raw materials in which the CaO/SiO2 mass ratio of the CaO component and the SiO2 component, is controlled to be 1.3, are charged in an area of within 10% throat diameter ratio including the furnace axial center, and the wear of the furnace bottom brick is prevented by controlling the brick temperature to a prescribed temperature or lower.
