Title:
METHOD FOR OPERATING COAL GASIFICATION FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5794094
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To inhibit the formation of a deposited material in a furnace and to enable continuous operation over a long period of time, by a method wherein space on the surface of a molten iron bath in an iron bath gasification furnace is filled with a solid carbonaceous material, and coal and a gasifying agent are blown through a non-immersed lance into the furnace to conduct gasification.

CONSTITUTION: Coal and a gasifying agent are blown through a non-immersed lance 4 into a molten iron bath 5 stored in a gasification furnace 1. During the operation splash 7 is scattered from the surface of the iron bath, rapidly cooled by a furnace wall, the lance 4, etc., and deposited thereon. Thus, clogging of a furnace port 2 and the nozzle of the lance 4 is likely to occur by the deposition of the splash. To prevent this, space on the surface of the iron bath is filled with a solid carbonaceous material 9 such as coke or graphite sphere. When the space is filled with solid carbonaceous material 9 and then gasification is carried out, the splash 7 spouting from the iron bath by the jet of the gasifying agent blown through the lance 4 strikes on the solid carbonaceous material 9 charged on the surface of the iron bath. Thus, the splash 7 is prevented from being scattered.
