Abstract:
To provide an improved method for operating a marine or fixed diesel engine moved with different fuels having different S content, that is a high S-content fuel and a low S-content fuel.
The method for operating the marine or fixed diesel engine is to lubricate the engine with one cylinder lubricant fed to the marine or fixed diesel engine in a substantially certain amount. In the method, at least one overbasic detergent having >150mgKOH/g base value is added in operating the engine using a fuel having a S level requiring more base than that available from the cylinder lubricant.
