Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a polymer, by which a dielectric polymer such as DNA can surely be caught in a solution, consequently freely patterned, and utilized as such or in a state trapped on a substrate or the like.
SOLUTION: A target polymer is put in a solution containing a solvent polymer. Thereby, response efficiency to laser beam can be enhanced in comparison with that in an ordinary solution (for example, an aqueous solution not containing a solvent polymer). Namely, this method for operating the polymer, comprising dissolving a different polymer in a solution of the first polymer, gathering a laser beam on the solution to catch the different polymer at the focus or cause a repulsive force on the different polymer, is characterized in that the different polymer is a dielectric substance, and the mol. wt. of the different polymer is ten times or more that of the first polymer, or the solution of the first polymer is a gel.
