Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a new method for operating an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A method for operating an internal combustion engine (1) comprising an exhaust gas turbocharging system (2) and an exhaust gas aftertreatment system (3) is provided. The system (2) comprises a turbocharger (8) comprising a turbine (10) and a compressor (9), the system (3) comprises a catalyst converter (12), cut-off devices (14, 15) respectively disposed at positions upstream and downstream of the catalyst converter (12), and a bypass (13) including an additional cut-off device (16) to the converter (12). In order to guide an exhaust gas flow through the bypass (13), the cut-off devices (14, 15) disposed at positions upstream and downstream of the converter (12) are closed, and the additional cut-off device (16) of the bypass (13) is opened. In particular, an exhaust gas partial flow is supplied to the converter (12), when the cut-off devices (14, 15) respectively disposed at positions upstream and downstream of the converter (12) are closed, and the additional cut-off device (16) of the bypass (13) is opened.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
