Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress the scale formation in a multizone type continuous heating furnace, and prevent the noncombustion of fuel by lowering the air ratio of soaking zones to a reducing atmosphere and making the air ratio of heating zones higher thereby heating slabs and the like in said furnace.

CONSTITUTION: In heating slabs and the like in a multizone type continuous heating furnace, the air ratio of soaking zones is set at 0.6W0.95 to make a reducing furnace, and the air ratio of heating zones is made higher than that in the prior art, for example, to about 1.05W1.4. When the furnace is operated in this way, the generation of scale in the soaking zone is suppressed and the unburned fuel is burned in the heating zones.
