PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the operation of a power steering system, the method making it possible to detect a failure of the power steering system.SOLUTION: In a power steering system 10 in which manual torque 24 given by a driver is superimposed upon motor torque 26 provided by a motor 16 in a superimposition unit 14, a failure of the power steering system 10 can be detected by evaluating a speed pattern of the motor 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
