Abstract:

To provide new uses of (R)-2-hydroxy-2'-alkoxy-1,1'-binaphthalene and (S)-2-hydroxy-2'-alkoxy-1,1'-binaphthalene.

A cyclopropanecarboxylic acid can be easily put to optical resolution using (R)-2-hydroxy-2'-alkoxy-1,1'-binaphthalene represented by formula R-(I) or (S)-2-hydroxy-2'-alkoxy-1,1'-binaphthalene represented by formula S-(I). In the above formulas, A is methyl or ethyl.
