Abstract:

To provide a method of optical resolution by which one enantiomer is easily and efficiently separated from an enantiomer mixture.

The method of optical resolution comprises subjecting a solution containing the enantiomer mixture of (A) a compound having a naturally and preferentially crystallizable chirality, with (B) a compound of the object of the resolution to crystallization, to preferentially crystallize one enantiomer of the compound of the object of the resolution. The compound (A) includes an amino acid, e.g. asparagines. For example, a compound having at least one group selected from an amino group, a carboxy group, a hydroxy group, a mercapto group, a carbonyl group and a thiocarbonyl group is cited as the compound (B) of the object of the resolution.
