Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a excellent packing method for a quartz glass preform, wherein a large amount of packing-cushioning materials are not required when the quartz galss preform is packed, the packing work is easy, and a damage and cracks are prevented from being generated during transport.
SOLUTION: A quartz glass preform 1 is packed in a cylindrical container, and in this case, the quartz glass preform 1 may be packed by bundling a plurality of the preform 1, or by placing each preform 1 in a vinyl bag 2, in the cylindrical container. At this time, the cylindrical container comprising a material selected from corrugated board, plastic, corrugated board plastic, wood and metal, is formed in a manner to have an inner diameter which is larger by at least 10 mm than the diameter of the preform, or the diameter of a plurality of numbers of the preform being bundled, and a lid comprising a material selected from corrugated board, plastic, corrugated board plastic, wood and metal is preferably provided on both ends of the cylindrical container.
