Title:
METHOD FOR PAVING SIDEWALK IN LOW WATER PERMEABLE SOIL AREA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03267405
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To facilitate drainage by arranging horizontally and parallelly rows of hollow bodies provided with openings on the upper surface and on at least one of other surfaces thereof over a roadbed to form a water storage layer and providing a permeable pavement slab with water passages vertically passing therethrough.

CONSTITUTION: The ground G is digged up to expose a loam layer 1 and crushed stones 2a are laid over the layer 1, which are compacted by means of a road roller to form a roadbed 2. A large number of reinforced concrete pipes 3, hollow bodies with their upper and lower ends opened, are provided, standing erect, horizontally in rows on the roadbed 2 to form a water storage layer 4. Thereafter, mortar is applied to the upper end surfaces of the pipes 3, on which permeable pavement slabs 5 are laid one by one so as to be fixed thereto and joint sealing material is filled into joints 5 to pave a sidewalk. And the slabs 5 are made up of ceramic tiles, wherein water passages 5b are provided. As a result, stormwater is temporarily held in the layer 4, preventing thereby the sidewalk from being flooded with stormwater.
