Title:
METHOD FOR PERFORMING MAGNETIC PULSE WELDING OPERATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003019572
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method and equipment for permanently joining a first and second metallic components of comparatively large size, using a magnetic pulse welding method.

At first, the end of the first and second metallic components are arranged according to the concentric relation of being superimposed in the axial direction. The first and second metallic components can be formed with the same or different materials as necessary. A plurality of inductors are concentrically arranged on the circumference or its inside of the partially superimposed part of the first and second metallic components. The inductors can be arranged adjacently to each other in a manner that one end is in contact with the other in the axial direction. Then, these inductors are successively energized; consequently, each region in the first metallic component is deformed and engaged with the relative region of the second metallic component, so that the first and second metallic components are permanently joined. Desirably, the plurality of inductors can be energized in the order of being physically oriented to the first and second metallic components.
