In an ingot piling up device repeating actions of transferring a plurality of ingots gripped at gripping positions by a gripping mechanism 11 in a horizontal direction and of loading the same on a carrier device 13 twice or more times to pile ingots perpendicularly in multiple steps, the gripping mechanism 11 provided with a gripping mechanism main body 15, a turning means 17 turning the gripping mechanism main body 15 in a horizontal plane around a main shaft, and a lift means 18 raising and lowering the same in a vertical direction, and the gripping mechanism main body 15 is provided with a first gripping means 40 gripping an ingot of the final step and a second gripping means 41 gripping the ingot for the leg.
