Abstract:
PURPOSE: To form a material for placement in the sea by kneading the sea water with an aq. suspension contg. a cementitious mixture consisting of alkaline earth metal hydroxides, fly ashes and alkaline earth metal sulfites.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gases of power plants are introduced into a limestone slurry to prepare the slurry contg. the alkaline earth metal sulfites and sulfates, such as CaSO2.1/2H2O and CaSO4.2H2O. Prescribed amts. of the fly ashes and lime are incorporated into this slurry to obtain the slurry contg. 10 to 99.5% cementitious mixture consisting of 5 to 70wt.% (hereafter %) alkaline earth metal hydroxides, such as Ca(OH)2, 0.25 to 70% alkaline earth metal sulfites (contg. partly sulfate) and 10 to 99.5% fly ashes. This slurry is kneaded with the sea water to prepare the slurry having 180 to 250mm flow value. Such slurry is then placed into the sea 3 between two rows of steel sheet-piles 1, 2 closing the sea area where caissons are installed. The slurry is solidified and intensified to prevent the danger of falling of the steel sheet-piles 1, 2 to the inner side by the side pressure of the sea water at the time of draining a region 4 enclosed by the steel sheet-piles on the inner side.
