Title:
METHOD FOR PLATING STAINLESS STEEL BLANK WITH GOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5858296
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain gold plating with superior adhesive strength by immersing a stainless steel blank in a bath contg. specified percentages of HCl, H2SO4 and water under specified conditions, immediately carrying out nickel striking, and plating the striked blank with gold. CONSTITUTION:A stainless steel blank is immersed in an activating bath contg. 5-50wt% HCl, 5-50wt% H2SO4 and some water at 50-90 deg.C for 2-4min to remove the passive oxide film from the surface and to activate the surface. The blank is immediately immersed in a plating soln. adjusted to 3.0-4.0pH at about 90 deg.C to carry out electroless nickel striking. The nickel striked blank is immersed in a bath at about 30-70 deg.C and plated with gold at about 2-4A/dm<2> current density. The resulting gold plating has enhanced adhesive strength and is hardly peeled off.
