To provide a method for polishing a spherical body allowing efficient polishing of the surface of the spherical body and improving of roundness and smoothness of the spherical body.

This method for polishing the spherical body 5 is characterized by facing each polishing surface in three polishing rolls 44, 46 and 48 rotated and driven individually substantially vertically with a required center angle at the inside of the diameter of the spherical body 5 to be polished, rotating the two polishing rolls 44 and 46 and the one polishing roll 48 in mutual opposite directions in a state of the spherical body 5 mounted commonly on the three polishing rolls 44, 46 and 48 and intermittently rotating the whole of the three polishing rolls 44, 46 and 48 on a horizontal surface in a normal rotation direction and a reverse direction.
