Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having an extremely narrow molecular weight distribution by treating a homogeneous solution containing a specific Mg compound and Ti compound in a hydrocarbon with a halogenated organoaluminum compound and then polymerizing ethylene or copolymerizing the ethylene with other alpha-olefins in the presence of the resultant solid and an organoaluminum compound in a specific diluent. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene is homopolymerized or copolymerized with other alpha- olefins in a diluent containing an aliphatic or alicyclic saturated hydrocarbon diluent containing 1ppm to 5wt.% aromatic hydrocarbon using a catalyst system composed of (A) a hydrocarbon-insoluble solid prepared by treating a homogeneous solution containing a magnesium compound expressed by formula I (R<2> is alkyl, aryl, etc.; R<2> is halogen; m is 1 or 2) and a titanium compound expressed by formula II (R<3> is alkyl, aryl, etc.; X<3> is halogen; n is 1, 2 or 3) in a hydrocarbon with a halogenated organoaluminum compound expressed by formula III (R<1> is alkyl or aryl; X<1> is halogen; 1<=l<=2) and (B) an organoaluminum compound.
