Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for heat treatment of components built up by SLM.SOLUTION: The method comprises a) providing an additively manufactured component in an as-built condition, b) heating the component from room temperature (RT) up to a temperature T, where Tis 50 to 100°C less than a temperature T, at which a drop of the coefficient of thermal expansion starts, c) holding the component for a time tat Tto achieve a uniform component temperature, d) heating the component by applying a fast heating with a heating rate vof at least 25°C/min from Tto a temperature Tequal to or less than 850°C to avoid or at least to reduce precipitation of the gamma-prime phase, and e) applying further time/temperature steps to the component depending on the purpose of the heat treatment.
