PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality product nearly free from defects as well as to mold a large-sized product by increasing the degree of freedom of the shape of a product to be molded and improving dewaxing operation when powdery starting material such as metal powder is mixed with a binder, poured into a molding tool, molded, taken out and sintered.

CONSTITUTION: Powder is mixed with a liq. gelatinizer such as an agar soln. to prepare a slurry and this slurry is poured into a molding tool made of a material absorbing no water. The slurry is gelatinized to form a gelatinous molded body contg. powder bonded with gel and this molded body is solidified by freezing, taken out of the molding tool and dried to remove water contained in the gel. The resulting dry molded body is freed of the gel by heating and this dewaxed molded body is sintered to obtain a desired product.
