Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve activity and selectivity in a hydrogenation reaction of an unsaturated compound by neutralizing the residual of a reducing compound with an oxidizing agent after melting plural metals in plural organic solvents and contacting one of metals with the other metal in the reducing compound.

CONSTITUTION: When arranging a homogeneous phase catalyst soluble in organic media, at first, at least one compound of at least one metal A in at least one organic solvent S, and at least one reducing compound R of at least one metal B in at least one organic solvent S', are respectively dissolved. Next, the reducing compound R and the compound of the metal A are contacted. Then the residual reducing functional base is neutralized by at least one oxidizing agent O. The catalyst thus manufactured has excellent activity and selectivity in hydrogenation reaction of unsaturated compounds.
