Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove or reduce interferences caused by coexistent substances in a specimen by treating a preliminary liquid specimen before DNA is multiplied by a PCR method.

CONSTITUTION: A preliminary liquid specimen such as urine is treated with polyethlene glycol (preferably having a mol.wt. of 1000-50000) to prepare a liquid specimen for a PCR method. Preferably, an aqueous solution of polyethylene glycol is added to the preliminary liquid specimen and the mixture is allowed to stand at a low temperature for 6hrs to precipitate DNA and viruses, followed by suspending the precipitates in a buffer solution to provide a liquid specimen.
