Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a quinoline compound not coloring even when stored for a long period, by removing age coloring substances from the quinoline compound.
CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing a quinoline compound from coloring with the elapse of time comprises hydrogenating a distillation fraction with molecular hydrogen or a mixture containing the molecular hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst as such or after a reduction treatment or adding hydrazine or one or more kinds of hydrazine derivatives, when the quinoline compound is recovered by distilling from a mixture containing the quinoline compound. The method can provide the quinoline compound extremely reduced in the contents of substances colored with the elapse of time, thereby permitting to provide the high quality raw material for medicines, agricultural chemicals, dyes and pigments.
