Abstract:
To provide a damage preventive method for preventing shellfish damage to plants such as seedlings, without killing shellfishes such as big pond snails.
This method prevents shellfish damage to plants by imparting electric stimuli to big pond snails which eat seedlings planted in paddy fields. A voltage with a field strength of 0.5V/cm or more is applied to a pair of metallic wires 11A, 11B serving as electrode members positioned beneath the paddy fields, for an application time of 0.1 sec or more alternating with a stopping time of not more than 10 times the field strength value, to thereby prevent the big pond snails from behaving in accordance with their food habit.
