PURPOSE: To obtain a good quality white skin and chamois which are capable of decreasing an amount of hydrogen peroxide to be used and are good in removing the fixed blood by subjecting an animal leather to respective stages of water tempering, demeating, bleaching, tanning followed by fatting then to washing and dehydrating after the respective stages.
CONSTITUTION: The animal skin, such as dried deer skin, is subjected to the water tempering and demeating treatment and is then subjected to the bleaching treatment by using calcium hydroxide together with hydrogen peroxide. The skin is thereafter subjected to the tanning treatment then to the washing and dehydrating treatment after the respective stages, by which the objective white skin and chamois are obtd. An enzyme treatment is preferably executed before or after the bleaching treatment.
