Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of a tension fluctuation to a wire during the start of cutting of an ingot and to prevent the occurrence of a fear of profile precision being lowered and a wire being dislocated from a processing roller.
SOLUTION: In a method for processing an ingot by this wire saw, when an ingot 23 is cut by a wire 18, a tension of the wire 18 during the start of this cutting is varied and set to a value higher than a tension during ordinary cutting by a wire tension varying mechanism 24. In this case, after a wire 18 is started to cut throughout the overall length of the outer peripheral surface of the ingot 23, the tension of the wire 18 is gradually lowered to a tension available during ordinary cutting.
