PURPOSE: To obtain a reproduced picture with high continuity by obtaining line picture signals which have produced errors by averaging picture signals retained in a buffer memory and picture signals of the next line after the line that has detected errors.

CONSTITUTION: When a line of input picture signals is inputted, an error-check device 1 operates sum-check values, while sending the input picture signals to the line buffer 1, and when the sum-check values are abnormal, the device gives signals denoting abnormality to a timing controller 4. Receiving the signals, the controller 4 turns switches S1 and S2 to on, controls reproduction of picture signals in the error line, and converts reproduced picture signals into error line picture signals through an AND gate 6 and a switch 3 to be outputted on the recording part, thus permitting reproduced pictures of high continuity in reproduced data and of less picture deterioration.
