PURPOSE: To properly retrieve information on matching with period width of a retrieval object by handling information while separating the information into tentatively important information such as meteorological information and permanently important information such as the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
CONSTITUTION: A frequency of occurrence measurement section 4 measures distribution of a slot value with respect to each time range for each keyword, a time weight decision section 5 compares it with a pattern of frequency with respect to each time range provided in advance such as one week or one year to decide weight of information for each time range. Then, inputted topic information is stored in a topic information database 1. Furthermore, the weight of each keyword decided by the time weight decision section 5 is updated for each information retrieved in a topic information database. The process is repeated so long as the topic information to be inputted is in existence. Thus, valuable information is effectively stored an retrieved as required or eliminated for the case.
