Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1α-hydroxyvitamin D by directly converting only one H atom on the 1α-position to a hydroxy group in vitamin Ds bearing H atoms on the 1α- and 25- positions.
SOLUTION: A vitamin D is treated in a solution containing cell bodies of an actinomycete belonging to the genus Amycolata or an enzyme collected from the actinomycete capable of directly hydroxylating only the hydrogen atom on the 1α position in vitamin Ds to produce 1α-hydroxyvitamin D.
