Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane compound, the method comprising: in a reaction solvent, reacting phenols with glyoxal in the presence of an acid catalyst to obtain a mixture including the 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane compound, isomers thereof, and phenols; and extracting the 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane compound from the mixture using tetrahydrofuran or acetonitrile.
