Abstract:

To provide a method for the easy and selective production of an optically active compound useful as a production intermediate for antibacterial agents.

The (1S,2S)-2-fluorocyclopropanecarboxylic acid derivative is produced according to reaction formula (R1 and R2 are each a 1-6C alkyl provided that R1 is same as R2 or the carbon number of R2 is larger than R1). The derivative is selectively produced by taking advantage of the fact that the ester on the carbon atom bonded with chlorine atom is more easily hydrolyzable between two esters of the compound of formula (I) and the compound having the two esters taking trans configuration is more easily hydrolyzable.
