Abstract:
To provide a method for producing 2-(4-methyl-3-pentenyl)- anthraquinone (IHEAQ) having improved purity in improved space-time yield while preventing the problems of prior arts by the Diels-Alder addition comprising the reaction of naphtho-1,4-quinone with myrcene and the oxidization of the obtained addition product.
The oxidation step of the process is carried out in a solvent mixture containing a polar solvent and a non-polar solvent in the presence of a combination of a strong inorganic base and an organic base using air or an oxygen-containing gas.
