Abstract:
To provide an economically excellent method for producing 7-amino-3-[(Z)-2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl)vinyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid having very low E type content and the salt thereof.
The method for producing 7-amino-3-[(E/Z)-2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl)vinyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid represented by formula (1) and its alkali metal salt, which are increased in the content of 7-amino-3-[(Z)-2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl)vinyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid represented by formula (2) and its alkali metal salt, is characterized by adding a high porous polymer and/or activated carbon to an aqueous solution of alkali metal salt of the 7-amino-3-[(E/Z)-2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl)vinyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid and treating the added.
