Abstract:
To provide a new method for producing 4-(6,6-dimethyl-2- methylenecyclohexyl)-2-methyl-2-butenal which gas an amber, ionone, iris, fruity or floral-like persistent fragrant flavor and is useful as a perfume.
This new method for producing 4-(6,6-dimethyl-2- methylenecyclohexyl)-2-methyl-2-butenal comprises reacting γ-cyclohomogeranial with a propanalalkylamine in the presence of a base in an organic solvent and then bringing the reaction product into contact with an acid to hydrolyze the product.
