Abstract:

To provide a method of producing 7,7-bicyclo[3.2.0] hepto-2-ene-6-one that is useful as a starting substance for medicines, agrochemicals, cosmetics or an intermediate therefor.

Dichloroacetyl chloride is dehydrochlorinated with a tertiary amine and the resultant dichloroketene is allowed to add to a substituted or unsubstituted cyclopentadiene to produce the objective 7,7-bicyclo[3.2.0] hepto-2- ene-6-one wherein both of the dichloroacetyl chloride and a tertiary amine are added dropwise to the solution including cyclopentadiene.
