Abstract:

To provide a method for producing an acidic carboxymethyl cellulose containing markedly reduced amount of impurities such as natrium ion etc. even when a cheap water such as tap water etc. is used as wash water, and the acidic carboxymethyl cellulose produced by the method contains very small amount of impurities, and is of high quality.

The method for producing the acidic carboxymethyl cellulose comprises a step of preparing a precipitate by adding an acid to a solution of a salt of carboxymethyl cellulose, and a step of washing the precipitate by water, also a step of adding carbon dioxide to the wash water.
